All muffles are warranted 2 years from the date of invoice providing that the instructions which come with your order via a letter from Big Wilf’s Bell Muffles are followed precisely. Fair wear and tear and misuse is excluded from our warranty. As all muffles are bespoke and made to order we reserve the right to only provide a repair to the product where it falls short of the intended purpose.
Bell weights are an approximate guide to muffle size, but not ideal as clappers can vary considerably in size and design. We prefer circumferences of clappers as it provides more accurate data for us to work to. The below diagram details all of the details we require from metal clappers.

NB - Muffles are made to fit each individual bell. Please measure as accurately as possible. We suggest using a length of cord to wrap around the clapper, mark it and measure the length to get the most accurate measurements. Or a dressmaker’s tape measure.
We request that all customers take a photo of each of the clappers as this helps in the manufacture of your muffles (see example).
* Any unevenness or sharp edges on the metal (e.g. when a bell is overdue for quarter-turning, or ridges caused by tuning) can damage muffles. If this is the case, please let us know and a thicker leather can be used for the contact surface of the muffle.
The measurement of the height of the clapper ball may cause some confusion. Here are some examples of different types of clapper - the measurement required is the distance between the yellow lines.
